CJCA Renshikan Karate Club

Sensei Seiichi Yamashiro

The head instructor at the CJCA Renshikan Karate Club is Seiichi Yamashiro. Sensei Yamashiro is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Shito Ryu Renshikan Karate. He has been teaching at the CJCA Renshikan Karate Club for 16 years and has also trained in Judo. As a club instructor in Karate Alberta, Sensei Yamashiro regularly submits a "Criminal Records Check" including a "Vulnerable Sector Check".

Our classes are on Wednesdays and Saturdays and are divided into children's and adult classes. Our children's classes encourage fun learning, while our adult classes are more disciplined and focused. If you would like to try out our karate club, you can attend two classes for free. If you are looking to become stronger both physically and mentally, please give it a try.

Sensei Frank Prystupa

Sensei Prystupa is a 6th Degree Black Belt and a Shihan (Senior Instructor) in Shito Ryu Renshikan Karate.

Sensei Prytupa has taught Martial Arts and Traditional Karate in Calgary for more than 50 years and has been involved in Japanese Martial Arts for more than 56 years. He started training in Judo in 1965 and then transitioned into Karate in 1967. In addition to karate, Sensei Prystupa has also trained in Kobudo (Traditional Japanese Weapons) and Iaijutsu (The Art of drawing and using the Japanese Katana (Long Sword)).

Sensei Prystupa is certified as a Level 3 Coach through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). As a club instructor in Karate Alberta, Sensei Prystupa regularly submits a Criminal Records Check including a "Vulnerable Sector Check". He has also trained in Emergency First Aid to provide support if ever required.

The club regularly studies Shito Ryu Karate and Kobudo.
